Description

A simple and delicious margherita pizza topped with fresh basil and mozzarella cheese.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Knead until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  6. Transfer the rolled dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  7. Spread crushed tomatoes evenly on the dough and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  8. Arrange mozzarella slices on top of the tomatoes, then add fresh basil leaves.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
